We have one guiding purpose—to empower every African male teenager to realize their full potential as they emerge into adulthood

ABOUT

From a groaning to a goal, the two founders chose to build a solution that would grow. As often as they spoke about, it formed a life of its own. Today, MeToMen is a social impact organization flourished after winning a nomination for an initial $1000 start-up grant for social entrepreneurship in the health and well-being category.

CURRICULUM

This curriculum features activity-based learning, practice sessions, and panel discussions. This panel discussion of caring and committed male mentors will answer all of your questions — and more — regarding how to effectively develop the skills to thrive as a man in a changing world. While it can be a challenge, these speakers have seen more opportunities than roadblocks come from their efforts at applying the tough skills, like emotional communication, self and gender awareness, lifelong learning, and goal setting, and more in-person.

Frequently Asked Questions

The program starts with a boot camp (1-2 days) designed to facilitate the initial engagement with the mentees and mentors, essential for building rapport. Mentees are trained on male-centric social intelligence modules such as emotional communication, learning to learn, and goal setting to equip them with the knowledge and skill to engage issues that confront them as growing male teens.
Post boot camp, mentees are appropriately matched to trusted and trained mentors for a 3-month mentorship program where certain goals are set and results are assessed for signs of development
Post-mentorship, mentees are inducted into a community where learning is reinforced and support is provided. Identified at-risk or talented teens, that require specialist medical or skill-based assistance, are referred to the relevant partner organization respectively.

The boot camp is quarterly hosted both virtually and in-person.

It is a social organization that requires external funding for running its impact-driven programs. Its initial start-up funding came from a $1000 grant at a project idea program for social entrepreneurs organized by Ford foundation in collaboration with Lagos Business School Sustainability Center.
